On the Roads of the World ODV is an association that wants to walk together to build a small piece of new humanity. “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together,” says a proverb. And in this spirit, we try to travel together along the roads of the world, engaging in various projects — small, but concrete and meaningful.
In our ten years of activity, we have supported the construction of the Infectious Diseases Pavilion at the hospital in Takoradi. We have carried out other healthcare projects in Ghana, Togo, and Zimbabwe. We have raised funds for the earthquake in Nepal and supported initiatives in Thailand, Mexico, and Brazil.
On the Roads of the World is a non-profit association that exclusively pursues goals of social and international solidarity. It is based in Trentino, Italy.
We are currently engaged in three key areas:
Emergency Myanmar
We are raising funds for the earthquake that struck Myanmar, working through the Sisters of Providence, who have been supporting girls who are victims of trafficking, abandoned children, and the most vulnerable for over twenty years.
Favela of Hope
In Brazil, in the Marcos Moura favela, we support choreographer Rodrigo Baima and helped establish the Afro Aurora Dance Institute, which aims to create social transformation through art. Dance is life, dance heals the deepest wounds, dance is a response to violence. Volunteers from the favela, alongside Rodrigo, offer bodywork and psychological support to women who have experienced violence, create targeted projects for children at risk of drug abuse, promote respect for both male and female bodies, and foster self-expression in cases of deep trauma. We are currently building a structure — the Institute’s home — to provide protection and support for girls and boys facing violence.
The extraordinary story of dance in the favela can be found HERE
Health Center in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast
One of our major initiatives is the construction of a health center in Côte d’Ivoire, managed by the Sisters of Providence, in an area that was severely affected by recent conflict. The project is led by Franco Giovanazzi.
Sister Giuseppina, a missionary in Côte d’Ivoire, oversees a small hospital in Kongouanou (a small village in the bush), active since 1986 and located about 30 km from the community of Yamoussoukro. The hospital treats Buruli ulcer, a potentially fatal disease if left untreated. To make this facility fully operational and efficient, it needs to be expanded with a well-equipped clinical laboratory and buildings to house doctors, nurses, and lab technicians, so they can live on-site 24/7 without having to commute daily on roads that are often hard to navigate.
